About a year ago, a sorority sister of mine and I started planning a reunion of four Tri-Delta pledge classes from the late 60s, from University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois. Pam and I sent out invitations to 97 alumnae and we had a fabulous response. On the weekend of February 5, 6 and 7, I had 27 Tri-Deltas fly and drive in from several states. The Best Western in Green Valley was a great host for the group. My home became the party house. On Friday night, I served Papa Murphy’s pizza and salad. We had a welcome/sharing time after dinner and everyone was buzzing after 45 years of being apart. I had a bar set up in my garage, which worked out perfectly. The gals could retreat for some peace and quiet, refresh their drinks and then head back into the house for more fun.
On Saturday, I met the Deltas at the hotel and I led a caravan to Madera Canyon for a four mile hike. It was a perfect weather day, so I am thankful the weather turned just in time. Saturday night we took over the Fiesta Room at The Grill and Chef Aris and Miguel put out a great meal. Everyone enjoyed the food! We then drifted into the Lounge for karaoke and of course, I sang a few songs with several back-up singers! It was a fun-filled night.
On Sunday, I again led a caravan, this time to Tubac, where we shopped, lunched and generally had more fun. But we had to hurry back for the Super Bowl. I engaged Mama’s Hawaiian BBQ to cater our dinner and once again, it was a winning idea. We had a football pool and the gals enjoyed the great weather, fire-pit and waterfall. After a two hour good-bye, my house was silent again.
The ladies loved Quail Creek and I give kudos to everyone here who helped me pull off this event. The photo was taken at Proctor Parking Lot at Madera Canyon.
