On April 14, 2018, 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Quail Creek Fights Back Relay For Life team will join other teams at the annual Green Valley/Sahuarita Relay For Life event at the Rancho Resort Clubhouse, 5900 S Rancho Resort Blvd, Sahuarita, AZ to walk short laps in honor of cancer survivors and in memory of those who have lost their cancer battle. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m., opening ceremonies at 11:00 a.m., followed by the survivor lap, the caregiver lap, “Jim Asbell’s Memorial” lap then the survivor/caregiver social. Everyone is invited to join the teams all day or to just stop in and walk or sit by the track in celebration or in reflection. Cancer doesn’t sleep or always stop so someone from each team will be walking all day. The Umbrella lap represents melanoma cancer. The Decorated Bra lap stands for breast cancer. Together we celebrate more survivor birthdays and remember those we lost.

After dark the luminaria bags with pictures and names on them will be glowing while teams of individuals will walk the luminaria path holding a glow stick, listening to the names read out loud of cancer survivors and those who lost their cancer battle.

The Quail Creek team has so far raised $20,000 for the American Cancer Society to provide patient education, programs, advocacy and cancer research. To register as a survivor or caregiver for the survivor/caregiver meal, donate or to purchase a luminaria bag in honor or in memory of someone, please contact Ginny Hutcheson at 906-0930 or [email protected].
