Diane Gordon, President
Quail Creek has many new women residents, so I thought it would be a good time to summarize what The Women Of Quail Creek (TWOQC) is. Our current membership is more than 330 women. We are a nonprofit Arizona corporation, which is also a charitable 501(c)(3) organization pursuant to the IRS. Our Mission Statement says, “We are a Community of Women dedicated to Learning, Giving, and Engaging.”
For learning, we have membership programs that usually occur on the last Monday of the month, as well as small group activities and programs. Some of the small groups include In My Kitchen, On the Go, 3rd Friday Book Club, the Garden Club, and Rock Painting.
Our giving consists of two major fundraisers for our scholarships and our local Green Valley/Sahuarita charities. The scholarships are our endeavor, or primary funding goal. This year we awarded 17 scholarships totaling $50,500.
In addition to monetary fundraising, and through our community outreach, we have in-kind drives such as a book drive for elementary students, a teacher shower to donate supplies, and a collection of items for needy seniors. This year at our Holiday Luncheon, we will be collecting items for children ages 11 to 17. We also provide helpful information to recently widowed women in Quail Creek through TWOQC’s YANA (You Are Not Alone). For Honor Flights, we collect letters for the veterans on those flights.
Our ways of engaging, besides the above activities, include a Members Luncheon and the Holiday Luncheon mentioned above. We hold an open house for our members and prospective women members to learn about our organization, its committees, events, programs, and fundraising.
Our dues are $25 per year. Those funds are used for programs, luncheons, and administrative expenses.
Our main method of communication with our members is through GroupWorks. It’s there that members can learn about our organization, the upcoming events, and register for small groups and luncheons.
In addition to GroupWorks, we have our website womenqc.com. There you can find the bylaws, executive board members, information about our committees, and other general information. Once a month, on the 20th, the Monthly Message is posted on the website. There you can find the President’s Monthly Message and information about upcoming events.
Our annual open house happens on Nov. 13 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Crystal Ballroom of the Madera Clubhouse. If you join in October, November, or December, you get the rest of 2023 and 2024!
To the women of Quail Creek: I hope to see you at the Open House.
