The Basic Training course (no push-ups required) offered by the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is currently open for registration. The training is divided into two phases: an online phase and a classroom phase. The online phase is underway now, and it only takes about 12 hours to complete, so you have plenty of time to finish it by the Oct. 31 deadline. The second phase is in-person training where, under the supervision of a trained coach, candidates will demonstrate knowledge gained and skills learned during Phase 1. This practical phase will be two all-day sessions: Nov. 2 and 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To graduate, students must attend both sessions. The Phase II sessions will be held at the Green Valley Fire District Training Center at 1285 W. Camino Encanto, just east of the intersection with Camino Del Sol.

Register online by going to www.ggvcert.com and clicking “Contact Us” to complete the form. You will receive an email reply with registration instructions.
