Mark your calendars and plan to join the festivities for the Seventh annual Valley Assistance Services fashion show and luncheon. The event will highlight outfits from Ruby Jane in Tubac and Nancy Pantz in Green Valley’s Continental Plaza Shopping Center. The fashion show will be held on Friday, August 21 at the Desert Diamond Casino, 1100 W Pima Mine Rd. in Sahuarita.
Doors will open at 11 and lunch–spinach salad, fiesta chicken, bean, corn and tomato relish, tomatillo sauce, Spanish arroz con elote and seasonal vegetable, and crème brulée– will be served at noon. Iced tea is included, and there will be a cash bar with a wide variety of adult beverages. Cost for admission and lunch will be $45, cash or checks payable to VAS. Those who purchase tickets at the VAS office may also buy tickets using a credit card.
There will be a silent auction featuring over 100 prizes for the highest bidders. Prizes will include spa packages, golf, jewelry, accessories, artwork, pet supplies, wine, food and lots of gift cards for entertainment and services.
This fundraiser will directly benefit families and individuals in VAS’s 2,700 rural square mile service area extending from Sahuarita to Rio Rico and Arivaca. Some of the most used programs include: rent and utility assistance, to include financial education to help prevent relapses; transportation, errand-running and food/meals delivery by volunteer drivers; workforce development and training to include resume writing, career search, computer lab; registered nurse health and wellness advocacy; telemedicine visits; wellness check phone calls and visits; fall prevention; assistance obtaining and retaining state and federal benefits such as SNAP (food stamps), AHCCCS (Medicaid), Medicare Savings.
VAS has set a goal to raise $17,000 at this fundraiser. Your attendance will help us reach that goal.
