Quail Creek resident Joan Brown has published her first book on Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) under the pen name M.D. Wells. She says, “Colon Procedure Recipes: Low Fiber-Low Residue Meals was born out of necessity.
“When my husband was scheduled for colon surgery, I realized a special diet would be required, both before and weeks after surgery. I searched the Internet but found only general information. I didn’t find ideas for recipes to make the process easier and more enjoyable. That’s when I decided to record the helpful information I found, along with the recipes we enjoyed.
“I learned the difference between low fiber, low residue, and soft diets. I recorded the dos and don’ts of food choices. I selected easy-to-digest foods to promote colon healing. Then I recorded the recipes meeting the doctor’s criteria. In the book, you’ll find suggestions for every meal, as well as snacks.”
Joan spent more than 40 years involved in the medical profession. Before retiring, she was the program manager for a Vascular Fellowship Program. Having assisted in the training of future vascular surgeons, she understands the necessity of following doctors’ orders to achieve the best possible outcomes. Her experience in medical research aided her in compiling this great reference and recipe book.
