The On-the-Go ladies from The Women of Quail Creek (TWOQC) took a tour of the historic Fox Theater in downtown Tucson on May 7.
The behind-the-scenes tour docent explained the history of the theater, which opened in April of 1930, and how the décor was created to be specific to the Tucson location.
She told many ghost stories and anecdotes about some of the performers and described the wonderful Wurlitzer organ and its importance to silent films.
The ladies were able to see the green room, dressing rooms, look for performers’ signatures on the walls, and stand on the stage.
One of the highlights was talking with the sound engineer who explained how important acoustics are for performances.
After the tour, the ladies had lunch at The Monica, a downtown destination for great food.
