Girls Just Want to Have Fun

This year’s GJWTHF (Girls Just Want to Have Fun) Tournament, held Feb. 26, was a huge success. There were 144 participants representing the Lady 18-Holers, the Lady 9-Holers and the Lady Putters. This was a fun alternating-shot format that resulted in happy camaraderie and opportunities to meet some new fellow golf aficionados.

This tournament would not have been possible without the help of the event volunteers: Bobbi Jo Rathvon (18-Holers), Sherry Gall (9-Holers), and Sherri Norine (Lady Putters). A special thank you to all of them for donating their time to organize all the elements of this fun tournament including compiling scoring of this unique format.

After completing the rounds, everyone met at the Canyon Club for a luncheon coordinated and hosted by the 9-Holers. Josh Wilks made the announcements of the top three final winners for each flight.

The 18-Holers and 9-Holers alternated shots up to the greens where the Lady Putters took over to drain the putts. Below is a list of the final winners:

Flight 1: 1st Robin Brannan, Janine Schaible, Cindy Losk; 2nd Dena Knox, Tracy Bresnahan, Julie Daines; 3rd Carol Spence, Patty Harmon, Carol Sheppard.

Flight 2: 1st Alicia Hiller, Paula Moore, Janet Rumford; 2nd Rebecca Rice, Maggi Gruber, Nancy McDaniel; 3rd Sonia Heeren, Janet Wegner, Lynda Pilcher.

Flight 3: 1st Diana Root, Elizabeth Cyprien, Cathy Stevens; 2nd Deborah Riddell, Elizabeth MeChek, Lauren Miene; 3rd Lisa Linnell, Yeon Min, Julia Snider.

Flight 4: 1st Elizabeth Cornell, Phyllis McCullough, Sherri Norine; 2nd Frances Martin, Elaine Wood, Carol Marholz; 3rd Helen Yotter, Billie Harsch, Denise White.
