Discover the Secrets to Healthy Aging with the UofA

Joyce Shumate

Quail Creek residents have a unique opportunity to peek into the future of wellness this April. On Friday, April 17, the Let’s Travel Club will welcome Alex Dubois from the University of Arizona Health Sciences for a special look at how we can all “age together well.”

This presentation isn’t just about facts and figures; it’s about staying active and inspired. The University of Arizona offers several centers and programs dedicated to providing information and activities on healthy aging, as well as programs that welcome older adults. These include the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and classes managed by the Health Sciences faculty, such as “Dance for Wellness,” led by Physical Therapist Dr. Chris Childers and her team.

Aging Together Well Tour

If you’ve ever wondered how art and science intersect, a two-hour tour of the Health Sciences Innovation Building and Coit Museum of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is designed for older adults. Participants will have the opportunity to experience the El Mirador Project (a digital art gallery integrating health and art), listen to faculty discussions on age-related topics such as heart health, and understand the importance of the humanities and the arts in promoting wellness.

The Let’s Travel Club will have a sign-up sheet for this member’s group trip. Details are still being finalized. More information can be found on the Let’s Travel Club’s Groupspot website.

This special presentation will be held in the Kino Center (Ocotillo, Mesquite, and Saguaro rooms) on Friday, April 17, at 2 p.m. It is open to all QC residents and guests.
