On Oct. 30 the annual Chip In For Charity event took place. The Ladies 18-Hole Golf Association, the Ladies 9-Holers, and the Lady Putters came together to sponsor this community-wide event, which included a fun golf format followed by a wonderful luncheon in the Madera ballroom.
The total number of participants was 182 women. The tournament fell on the day before Halloween, so many of the ladies teams chose to come dressed up in matching costumes. A lot of thought went into some of them. It was so much fun seeing everyone’s reactions!
Through the generosity of all involved, a total of $15,887 was collected, a record high in eight years the golf associations have been sponsoring this event.
The money was raised through direct donations, a Split the Pot raffle, and the purchase of game cards by the participants. The funds collected went directly to four local charities: Parkinson’s Support Group of Green Valley, Valley Assistance Services, Hands of a Friend, and Sahuarita Food Bank. In addition to cash donations, the Quail Creek community also donated a total of 376 pounds of non-perishable food items to Sahuarita Food Bank.
Reece Nilsen, our new Quail Creek assistant golf professional, and Nano Vasquez, golf professional, provided pro drives for all of us. Thank you both for being a part of this event.
A special thank you to Cyndi Hoover, event chair, and her committee for all of their relentless time and effort that went into making this such a successful event. Thank you also to Bobbi Jo Rathvon, acting event tournament chair, for organizing the game.
Once again, thank you to all of the ladies who made this such a memorable event and for supporting these worthy causes. We hope to see all of you again next year
