On Saturday, April 6, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., local Relay For Life teams meet at Rancho Resort Park, 15900 S. Rancho Resort Blvd. (across I-19 from Fry’s), to honor and memorialize those who have been touched by cancer. Starting at 11 a.m. with the survivor lap and social, teams walk or sit near the track in honor of cancer survivors and in memory of those who lost their cancer battles. Teams walk the breast cancer lap and other specialty laps throughout the day, and at 7 p.m., past the lighted luminaria bags while names on the bags are read out loud. They celebrate with decorated tents, sell food, and raffle off items to help raise dollars to fund cancer research for the American Cancer Society. The University of Arizona is often a recipient of funds raised for cancer research grants.
To join the event, register as a survivor, join a team, donate, or purchase a luminaria bag, go to www.relayforlife.org/gvsahuaritaaz. Join us anytime from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for a fun day of activities. For more information, contact Ginny at [email protected].
