TWOQC Plans for the Future

Inna Shames

Early this year, The Women of Quail Creek (TWOQC) established a partnership with the Greater Green Valley Community Foundation (GGVCF). This new partnership will help provide long-term financial stability and a reliable source of funding for TWOQC’s scholarship awards and other fundraising activities.

TWOQC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization. One of its major endeavors is fundraising for and awarding scholarships to young women graduating from Walden Grove, Sahuarita and Rio Rico High Schools and looking to continue their education, as well as to women 21 years or older who are residents of Pima or Santa Cruz Counties and want to resume their education to earn degrees or certifications.

It all began in 2016 with two scholarships of $1,000 each and has grown so significantly that as of 2025, a cumulative total of $344,700 was awarded to 128 recipients. Scholarship awards are currently $3,500 each and paid directly to the school. Over the years, many deserving women have benefited from these scholarships, which allowed them to achieve a variety of certifications and degrees, and to accomplish what might never have been possible without the financial support of TWOQC. Recipients have gone on to become nurses, educators, professional chefs, salon professionals, counselors and doctors.

The Greater Green Valley Community Foundation (GGVCF) currently manages and stewards $8.3 million in 27 different funds for 17 local nonprofits through Generous Wealth Advisors in Green Valley. GGVCF was formed in 1970 as a Christmas Fund to support families during the Christmas holidays and later became a Community Foundation having affiliate status with the Arizona Community Foundation in Phoenix. In 2010, GGVCF broke with their affiliate status and now functions as an independent Community Foundation serving Sahuarita, Green Valley, Amado, Arivaca, Tubac, Tumacácori, Rio Rico, and Nogales. The mission of the Foundation is to change and enrich lives through guidance, education and financial support to charities in these communities. As leaders of local philanthropic development, they award grants each June to local nonprofits for program services, and have, since inception, awarded over $7 million in grants.
