After a one-year COVID-induced break, the Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) cadets from Sahuarita and Walden Grove High Schools will be holding their annual car wash at American Legion Post 66, 1560 W. Duval Mine Road, on Saturday, Aug. 7, from 8 to 11 a.m. While there is no set fee for the car wash, the students would appreciate receiving donations.
Although the school curriculum is funded by the U.S. Navy, outside monies are needed to support competition fees, trophies, and awards at NJROTC activities during the school year.
The NJROTC unit located on the Sahuarita High School campus trains students from both schools in Naval science, citizenship, U.S. military organization, basic government, and basic health with emphasis on proper eating and exercise. Fourth-year students participate in leadership development training and get to practice the mentoring skills they have learned over the years.
During the car wash, the cadets get to practice their leadership skills and teamwork, and also exhibit self-discipline.
Please support our future leaders during the car wash as they remove all the monsoon splatters from your vehicle. You’ll be the envy of your neighborhood as you drive home in a nice clean car.
