The Desert Duffers have continued their annual tradition of fundraising for 2019. Donations are collected prior to Thanksgiving and used to provide holiday turkeys for families in need in the Continental School District. Duffers Fundraising Coordinator, Ron Macuga, worked closely with the school and district administration who coordinates distributing the turkeys to families who would most benefit from the donation.

Just over $1200 was collected from those members playing for the past two Tuesdays. With this amount collected, 30 turkeys were purchased from Walmart in Sahuarita, who has also been a partner in this project for years. On Wednesday, Nov. 20, the delivery was made to Continental School where the Duffers were met by District Superintendent Roxana Rico and Director of Student Activities Steven Lane. Superintendent Rico expressed the appreciation of the District Administration and pledged continued support and participation in this annual event.

The remaining funds from this year’s contributions were distributed equally to the Sahuarita Food Bank and to the Green Valley Food Bank.
