QC Ballroom Dance Club “travels” to exotic Marrakech

Dodie Prescott

The final Quail Creek Ballroom Dance Club dinner/dance of the season is scheduled in the Crystal Ballroom at the Madera Clubhouse on Wednesday, March 16. Non-members are welcome to join club members in socializing with friends and neighbors, enjoying a wonderful gourmet meal and listening to big band music.

Club members and guests will travel to Marrakech, Morocco to experience the cuisine of Gastro MK. Located in the luxurious Maison MK Hotel and Spa, Gastro MK offers the finest of French and Moroccan culinary fusion. The restaurant offers an exclusive menu program where participants experience authentic local market shopping and witness the making of a Moroccan feast.

Menu choices at the March event include spiced lamb chops or seared swordfish with a delicious dessert of baklava and orange/lavender crème. The Green Valley Orchestra will provide dance music for this special evening. It is the first time this local band has played for a ballroom dance at Quail Creek and we are looking forward to listening to their musicality.

The club had an unexpected and very enjoyable surprise at the February dance. Members of the Utah Dance Company came and even danced with members and guests. We had a lot of fun watching the expert youngsters being led around the dance floor by our dance veterans. We expect them to be at next year’s February dance as well to show us a step or two.
