American Authors, Artists, and Architects: An East Coast Tour in September 2021

Jean Tittle

Isn’t it about time to travel again? This small group tour of the houses, gardens, and studios of America’s literary greats, famous artists, and a world class architect will bring to life the impact artistic genius has had on American culture. We will visit the homes of Louisa May Alcott, William Cullen Bryant, Pearl Buck, Emily Dickinson, Thomas Edison, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Robert Frost, Washington Irving, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Herman Melville, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Henry David Thoreau, Mark Twain, and Edith Wharton. Artist studios will include Norman Rockwell’s and Andrew Wyeth’s. A full day will be spent at two of Frank Lloyd Wright’s amazing houses outside Pittsburgh and a half day at a Shaker village. The East Coast Tour will be in September 2021.

No background on any of these writers, painters, or architects is necessary for your enjoyment of the tour, as Jean Tittle will provide detailed commentary before visiting each site. The tour was designed by Jean and will be professionally provided by Cosmos Travel Company and Coastline Travel of California (who helped facilitate the successful 2019 England’s Literary Giants Tour). This will be Jean Tittle’s twelfth organized tour, focusing on writers, artists, and architects. Past participants’ comments include:

“Jean’s 2019 England’s Literary Giants—Their Homes and Gardens tour was well-organized, educational and most enjoyable.” Barbara L.

“Jean’s Literary Tour of England was a special treat. We visited over 16 literary sites and learned volumes from Jean’s commentary on the authors and their homes.” Jane and Jim H.

“Jean shared her extensive knowledge of England when she organized and led our private five-week tour of Great Britain—a trip of a lifetime!” Valerie and George O.
