Yes! The Women Of Quail Creek’s (TWOQC) annual October Javelina Hoedown 2023 was a rollicking, rip-roaring success!
If you did not attend, you missed out on a truly wonderful event, because Javelina Hoedown is the perfect combination of having a good time and doing good deeds. And don’t you just wish all of life could be like that, all of the time?
The Good Times: All 300 tickets sold out, so there was not an empty seat in the house. The music, courtesy of DJ Warren Bonesteel, was a blast, and the chuckwagon buffet dinner was outstanding, as always!
The Good Deeds: Javelina Hoedown is the annual fundraising event held to benefit TWOQC Scholarships. And this year, between ticket sales, cash raffles, raffle baskets, and silent auction items, a total of more than $18,000 was raised for the TWOQC Scholarship Fund!
So, a huge and grateful thank you to everyone who attended the event, to everyone who bought raffle tickets, and to everyone who bid on silent auction items.
Thank you also to the more than 80 businesses in Green Valley, Sahuarita, and Tubac who so generously donated their items and services, along with over 50 incredibly talented Quail Creek residents who donated their original artwork, handmade craft items, and unique talents to make this event such a success.
Thank you as well to all the volunteers who worked long and tirelessly behind the scenes, before and during the event, selling tickets, soliciting donations, preparing baskets, decorating tables, taking photographs, directing partygoers, serving as cashiers, and making everything flow smoothly.
Scholarship funding for young women in Pima and Santa Cruz Counties is an incredibly worthy cause. And as our Quail Creek community grows in number, so grows the potential to expand the scope and presence of TWOQC Scholarship Funding in the community that is now our home.
We are therefore delighted to announce that this year something totally new was launched at Javelina Hoedown: “While the Javelina Hoedown is the only fundraising event that benefits TWOQC Scholarships,” said Deb Melton, Scholarship Committee chair, “this year we were approached by a group of donors who put up just over $40,000 for a 2-to-1 Matching Fund Campaign. The campaign was kicked off at the Hoedown, and many attendees jumped on the opportunity to be some of the first to contribute. Thank you!”
This is just the beginning! You will be hearing much more about this amazing opportunity to help fund TWOQC Scholarships. The objective is to reach the matching fund campaign goal by February 2024, so watch for updates in GroupWorks and the Quail Creek Crossing.
