The June speaker for the Let’s Travel Club is Jared Suydam, an Environmental Education Program Coordinator with Pima County Conservation Lands and Resources. Mr.
Suydam specializes in interpreting the natural and cultural history of the Sonoran Desert bioregion, with a particular emphasis on the political and social ecology of the Arizona borderlands. With decades of exploring deserts around the world, he enjoys guiding desert dwellers and visitors alike, using place-based and experiential education methods to explore the unique and often misunderstood features of the Sonoran Desert’s biogeography.
Pima County Conservation Lands and Resources offers a variety of public programs, including environmental education presentations, wildlife programs, nature walks, journaling, and group tours. Many tours, such as those to the Historic Canoa Ranch and in Tucson, are free or low-cost and open to everyone. However, pre-registration is required. Details on how to sign up will be provided at this month’s presentation.
Southern Arizona features a deep interconnectedness of ecology, culture, and community. Join us for this presentation, which will provide an introduction to the most biodiverse county in the United States and a journey through a Sonoran Desert sense of place.
Mark your calendar for this special presentation on Friday, June 19, at 2 p.m. The event will take place in the Ocotillo, Mesquite, and Saguaro rooms at the Kino Center and is open to all QC residents and guests.
