Unit Highlights: Celebrating the Secret Sauce of Unit 22W!

Carole Berg, Publicity Chair, QC Unit Representatives Club

Every Quail Creek unit has its own flavor, and Unit 22W’s recipe includes connection, creativity, and a generous helping of community spirit. This month, we’re delighted to feature Unit 22W, located east of Quail Crossing Boulevard along the south side of Quail Range Loop, between Keyes Road and Hale Drive. It’s a unit where neighbors know one another, ideas are shared freely, and good times tend to follow.

At the heart of it all is a dedicated leadership team led by new Unit Rep Pam Reuhl. Pam stepped into the role inspired by the thoughtful leadership of Roxanne Housley who guided Unit 22 for six years through significant changes, including the evolution of the Unit Rep Club and the division of the original unit into three smaller, more manageable neighborhoods. Hats off to Roxanne!

Pam moved to Quail Creek nearly three years ago from Bothell, Wash., near Seattle, and one might suspect that sunnier skies played a role in her relocation. Her enthusiasm and commitment are already helping keep Unit 22W lively and well connected. Pam’s favorite events are the monthly Ladies’ Coffee Klatches, which she loves for their relaxed atmosphere, strong sense of camaraderie, and steady flow of ideas and support among neighbors.

Sharing the fun is Co-Rep Joyce Shumate who came to Quail Creek from Colorado more than 18 years ago. Joyce enjoys stepping in wherever help is needed and is well known throughout the community as the “Let’s Travel Club Chairperson/Founder.”

With that title comes no shortage of creative ideas. Not surprisingly, the Ladies’ Coffee Klatch tops Joyce’s list of favorite events as well. She appreciates how participation fuels suggestions, teamwork, and the smooth execution of activities, all of which keep the unit moving forward.

Rounding out the team is Co-Rep and resident tech expert Bill Foraker, who arrived from Indiana seven years ago and has been happily soaking up the Quail Creek sunshine ever since. While this is Bill’s first term as a Unit Co-Rep, his service history runs deep. He previously chaired the Unit Rep Group and played a key role in transitioning it from a standing committee of the QC board into an approved Quail Creek club. Bill’s favorite unit events are the street parties, and he worked closely with QC’s general manager to help establish the process for approved gatherings on common areas. His continued involvement across Quail Creek reflects his belief that community thrives when neighbors step up, lend a hand, and enjoy the journey together.

Remember, there are many units without Unit Reps and Co-Reps! Please get in touch with Unit Chair Bobbi Gordon at ogbg@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in checking us out. Our next meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 3 p.m. in the Silver Room at the Madera clubhouse.
