On March 28 The Women Of Quail Creek (TWOQC) invited all the women of Quail Creek, members and nonmembers, to attend an afternoon open house and learn what TWOQC is all about. Information was shared about TWOQC programs, membership, funding and giving, community outreach, YANA (You Are Not Alone), and the Scholarship Committee. The Decorating Committee had an amazing display to showcase the kinds of things they do to make TWOQC special events even more special. Leaders from the new small interest groups were on hand to answer questions, including the Gardening Group, Genealogy Group, On-the-Go excursions, In My Kitchen, Rock Painting, The Third Friday Book Group, and monthly topical book discussion groups.

There were also some great door prizes given away by the various groups. The Funding and Giving Committee gave away a free Spring Fashion Show ticket, while the Membership Committee offered free membership dues for a year. Other lucky participants walked away with painted rocks, genealogy research materials, planters from the Garden Group, books from the book groups, a gorgeous floral spring wreath designed and made by Sandi Beecher, a beautiful hanging basket from YANA, and a gift basket from the Scholarship Committee.

Manning the publicity information table enabled me to meet many other women residing in Quail Creek, including several who moved here from the East Coast, like myself. Many attendees told me that they were surprised by the number of different activities that TWOQC offers.

By the end of the open house, 29 new members and six returning members had filled out the membership form that would open the door for them to take advantage of all the opportunities available with a TWOQC membership.

For those who could not make the open house, more information is available about The Women of Quail Creek organization at womenqc.com.
