Even though they could not hold their traditional Javelina Hoedown or Oktoberfest, The Women of Quail Creek (TWOQC) will be able to offer scholarships for the 2021-22 school year. It was the many generous donations from Quail Creek residents, a memorial scholarship, and the sale of all the remaining on-hand merchandise that have made this possible.
Scholarships will be awarded to young women graduating from both Walden Grove and Sahuarita high schools. Students applying for a community college, trade, technical school, or four-year university are eligible for one of these scholarships. Deadline for submission to the counselors at the respective high school is April 6, 2021.
Additional scholarships will also be awarded to women over 21 who wish to return to school to finish their education or start in a new career field. The Women in Transition (WIT) scholarships will be needs based and may be used at a community college, trade school, or a university to include graduate level courses. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who reside in either Pima or Santa Cruz counties. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 15.
Please share the word about these scholarship opportunities with your daughters and granddaughters as well as with your nail technicians, hair stylists, massage therapists, grocery store clerks, and others with whom you come in contact. Some of these ladies might want to advance in their current fields, switch to another career option, or they might want to steer their daughters in the right direction.
Applications for both the high school and WIT scholarships can be found at womenqc.com/scholarships.
Thanks to everyone in the community who has supported the scholarship program over the years. We hope to be able to have an in-person awards ceremony later this year.
