The Women of Quail Creek are donating clothing and household goods for southern Arizona homeless veterans to the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System. The donation will occur on Monday, November 3, 2014, in our Homeless Veterans Program office at 10:45 a.m. located at 3601 S. 6th Avenue in Building 90.
The Tucson VA provides care and services to almost 2,800 homeless veterans which includes over 250 female homeless veterans. The first meeting of the Women of Quail Creek was held in March of 2004 and with approximately 40 ladies attending. The group continues to meet monthly and has grown to over 290 members. The group’s president since 2009, Peggy McGee, focused the club on reaching out to help others. The Women of Quail Creek have actively supported homeless veterans and the Tucson VA homeless programs. The ladies have collected clothing, backpacks, personal hygiene items, housewares and other items for homeless veterans over the last several years helping countless veterans and their families. Their efforts to help homeless veterans in southern Arizona were recognized nationally as being one of the top 10 in the country during the 2013 Make a Difference Day project.
