TWOQC Collecting Children’s Pajamas and Books

Peggy McGee

The Women of Quail Creek’s Community Outreach Committee is sponsoring a collection of pajamas and age-appropriate books for the Angel Heart Pajama Project (AHPP). This Tucson based 501(c)(3) helps children in state custody. These at-risk youth often go to foster care facilities in just the clothes they are wearing. Unfortunately, many of these children have seldom enjoyed the security, love, and feeling that someone cares about them. Snuggling up in cozy new pajamas with their very own new book gives these children a secure and nurturing experience and the feeling that someone cares. The books also foster literacy development in youth who are abandoned, abused, and removed from their homes for their protection. The children who receive the pajamas and books primarily come from foster care and homeless shelters. The AHPP transfers PJs and books to the Green Valley and Sahuarita Food Banks and Valley Assistance Services for the kids going into foster care in the local area.

The Outreach Committee will be collecting new pajamas and books for children from ages 0-14 (sizes 0-XXL). Cushy pillows are also on their wish list. There will be drop boxes in the clubhouse lobby from Nov. 21 to Dec. 10. They may also be dropped off at 2470 E. Wrightson View Drive or 2085 E. Cypress Canyon Drive.

No time to shop? Checks payable to Angel Heart Pajama Project will also be accepted.

All donations will be presented to AHPP at TWOQC’s holiday luncheon on Dec. 12. Those attending the luncheon may also bring donations to the luncheon that day and place them on the tables in the hallway outside the Crystal Ballroom.
