The Copper World Mining Project and Community Health Symposium

In September 2021, Hudbay Minerals, Inc., announced plans to extract minerals from a high-grade copper sulphide and oxide mineralization at its Copper World project located on private land at the north end of Arizona’s Santa Rita Mountains. The results from drilling completed in June 2021, confirmed historical drilling at this site and identified three new deposits, for a total of seven deposits at the Copper World site.

The Democratic Club of Quail Creek will have a discussion on the impact of this project on the local aquifer, its impact on the health of the residents living in Sahuarita and Green Valley, and its impact on the biodiversity of the Santa Rita Mountains, one of the most biologically diverse Sky Island complexes in southeast Arizona.

The Democratic Club of Quail Creek will expand its January meeting for a symposium on the Copper World mines. The meeting will be on Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Kino Conference Center, 1490-1 N. Quail Range Loop, #1, Green Valley, AZ 85614, and will start at 2 p.m. The conference center has room for about 200 people.
