Retired Nurses, Strong Bones, and a Whole Lot of Calcium!

Janine Baxter

On Sept. 15, the Quail Creek Nurses gathered at the home of Janine Baxter and enjoyed a delicious potluck salad featuring baby spinach, yogurt, and every high-calcium topping you can imagine!

We were pleased to welcome Joy Bulger-Beck, M.D., for the second time in two years. Dr. Bulger-Beck is the Medical Director of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics Clinics at Banner Health and an Associate Professor at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Bulger-Beck presented an informative program on “Osteoporosis Prevention and Treatment.” Her enthusiasm and knowledge are always well received. We learned about foods, supplements, and exercises that can help improve and maintain our bone health. She also shared information about the latest medications and treatments for osteoporosis.

Our next monthly gathering will be held Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the home of Donna Dabeck. We will have a Chili Contest! A few members will bring a pot of chili, and the rest of us will bring toppings and sides.

We look forward to another fun evening of great food and good friends!

Lastly, all active and retired nurses in the Quail Creek community are invited to join the group in 2026. Membership is free, and members are welcome to participate in as many or as few activities as they would like. The group typically meets once a month.
