Republican Club ‘Adopts’ Flag at Longhorn Grill and Saloon

A year ago, Quail Creek Republican Club (QCRC) Secretary Steve Ware visited the Longhorn Grill and Saloon in Amado and noticed that the large American flag flying outside the restaurant was in tattered condition. He recommended that the QCRC donate a new flag. The flag was purchased and presented to Longhorn owner Greg Hansen and his wife Amy at the QCRC July 2021 barbecue. It has now become sort of a tradition for the QCRC to keep an eye on the condition of the flag to make sure it continues to proudly fly high.

This month, we again noticed the flag in poor condition. The QCRC board again voted to approve the purchase of another 6’x10’ American flag. President Rich Ulery presented the flag to Longhorn General Manager Doreen Nelson on Aug. 17. Owner Greg Hansen quickly raised it to prominence again.

As the general election season progresses, QCRC members have many activities planned, including an October barbecue at the Longhorn on Oct. 14, a “Get Out the Vote” campaign throughout the fall all the way to Election Day on Nov. 8, and the annual Christmas Wine/Cheese event in December during which officers for 2023 will be elected.
