We are a group of over 20 members who meet in the Kino Conference Center bi-monthly on the first and third Thursday of every month at 2 p.m. On the second Thursday an active board meets to plan the group’s inner workings at 9 a.m. at Madera Clubhouse. Please attend to have your issues and desires in view. The meetings are all opened to interested individuals.
“The group is designed to support and encourage residents who are beginning and/or active writers and poets, with an emphasis on sharing and learning from like-minded participants,” explains Professor Paul Riggins, who has led several ‘nuts and bolts’ sessions on the writing process.
“Several members have published works, while others are working on stories of fiction, non-fiction, sci-fi, memoirs, books of poetry, travel writing, blogs, children’s, Christian romance, and the like,” says Jerry Hanks a screenplay writer/filmmaker documentarian.
At a recent board meeting, a planning committee made up of Paul Riggins (Club President), Jerry Hanks (Administrator), Curt Daily (Treasurer and Membership), Craig Simpson (Webmaster and PR) and Yasmin John-Thorpe (Founder and Vice President) discussed membership and website issues.
The writers and poets share ideas, thoughts and experiences. Visitors and new members are always welcome. There is a $20 yearly fee for membership. Information on upcoming meeting is posted on What’s Happening at Quail Creek. We hope you will come out and share your stories and ideas with the group.
