They came dressed in red and green, many wearing Christmas jewelry and most armed with bags of groceries or cash, checkbooks and credit cards to support the annual Christmas in July food drive to support the Green Valley/Sahuarita Food Bank. The Lady Putters filled two bins to overflowing with their donations of food and paper, cleaning and grooming supplies. The non-food products were especially appreciated because, by regulation, food banks cannot use cash donations to purchase anything but food. And as we all know, a large part of our grocery bill goes for non-food merchandise. These products will definitely help the clients of the food bank stretch their grocery dollars.

In the end, the Lady Putters donated a record 144 lbs. of groceries and $640 in cash. Executive Director of the Food Bank Mary Jane Goodrick was especially appreciative since donations have been down with so many traveling throughout the summer.
