“There is a great deal of difference between an eager man who wants to read a book and the tired man who wants a book to read.”—Gilbert K. Chesterton
The Monday Night Book Club is a chartered club which meets on the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m., unless there is a conflict with a holiday weekend, and is open to all residents of Quail Creek. Due to Labor Day, the September meeting will be a week later – September 12. No dues are required, just an interest in lively discussion and making new friends. Members submit suggestions during the year and, at the December meeting, a list is chosen for the following year.
Being discussed on September 12 will be Yellow Crocus by Laila Ibrahim. This deeply moving tale of unlikely love traces the journey of two very different women as each searches for freedom and dignity.
One who, as an infant, was handed over to an enslaved wet nurse and the other, the nurse, separated from her own son to care for her tiny charge.
