MOAA to Hold Spring Dinner at Quail Creek

Peggy McGee

Before taking a summer break, the Green Valley Chapter Military Officers Association will be hosting a dinner on Tuesday, May 4, in the Madera Clubhouse Crystal Ballroom. Members and their guests will gather for a social period at 5 p.m., with dinner being served at 5:35 p.m. Social distancing rules will be in effect.

The guest speaker for the event will be CDR Bradley Roberson, a senior naval science instructor at Sahuarita High School. He will present the history of the JROTC, activities in which the cadets are currently involved, and the impact COVID-19 has had on the overall program.

Menu choices include:

* Chicken Cordon Bleu: a chicken breast stuffed with Virginia ham and Swiss cheese, topped with a creamy garlic béchamel sauce

* Encrusted Tilapia: parmesan crusted tilapia garnished with grilled lemon and butter sauce

* Gluten-Free Vegetarian Wellington: mushroom duxelle, spinach, asparagus, zucchini, squash, and caramelized red onion wrapped in a puff pastry

Each entrée includes seasonal vegetables, a salad, and dessert. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Cost for the event is $30.

To make a reservation, please contact Quail Creek resident CW3 Jack Bundy at 951-760-8706 or [email protected]. Deadline to sign up is April 22.

All currently serving officers and warrant officers, retired, former, reserve, and National Guard from the five military services, as well as officers in the Public Health Service and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, are eligible for MOAA membership, as are spouses of deceased officers.

The MOAA Chapter does not meet during the summer. Their next event will be a luncheon on Sept. 14.
