Heartfelt appreciation goes out to the many Quail Creek residents who supported the Green Valley Chapter, Military Officers Association’s Food for the Troops collection on Independence Day. Your donations of non-perishable foods and paper products helped fill the empty shelves in the 162nd Wing, AZ Air National Guard’s, pantry.

Thanks, too, to all who bought tickets for the 50/50 raffle. The money raised from this goes towards the Chapter’s Turkeys for the Troops program. With the money from direct donations, coupled with proceeds from the raffle, the Chapter will be able to provide gift cards for the commissary to enable the junior enlisted troops to buy a turkey and all the trimmings needed for a festive Thanksgiving dinner.

Many also purchased Jim Click raffle tickets in hopes of winning a fully loaded 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe plug-in hybrid, two first-class round-trip tickets to anywhere commercial airplanes fly, or $5,000 cash. The money raised from this raffle helps fund the $2,500 scholarships awarded to cadets from the JROTC programs at the local high schools, as well as $1,000 stipends for veterans enrolled in the University of Arizona. If you were not in town on July 4 but would like to help the scholarship program, you may contact QC resident Peggy McGee at [email protected] or 520-207-6188 to purchase tickets between now and Dec. 7. The drawing will be held on Dec. 12.
