The Green Valley Chapter Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) will be hosting its annual Mix & Mingle Cocktail Party on Thursday, March 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. in La Perla’s El Dorado Room at La Posada. The Mix & Mingle is their major recruiting event for new members. The cost for the event, which will feature hors d’oeuvres, is $15. A cash bar will be available.
MOAA membership is open to all officers, commissioned or warrant, active, former, retired, reserve, and National Guard. All military officers as well as officers in the Public Health Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the surviving spouses of any of these officers are invited to the Mix & Mingle to learn what MOAA is all about. The Green Valley Chapter, which was founded in 1980, is the third oldest chapter in Arizona and one of the most active. Annual chapter dues are $25.
Every year the Green Valley Chapter awards scholarships to four cadets from Sahuarita, Walden Grove, Rio Rico, and Nogales High Schools. They sponsor Food for the Troops and Turkeys for the Troops drives to support the junior enlisted airmen for the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, provide clothing and grooming items for homeless veterans registered with the VA Hospital, and support youth in the local area by providing gifts at Christmastime.
To make a reservation for the event, interested officers may contact Quail Creek resident Peggy McGee at [email protected] or 520-207-6188. Deadline for reservations is March 13.
