Mark your 2023 calendars for the annual Military Order of the World Wars Massing of the Colors Ceremony on Friday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m. This solemn ceremony will be held in the Sahuarita Unified School District Auditorium, 350 W. Sahuarita Road. Parking is free.

The ceremony, which lasts between 75 and 90 minutes, celebrates both military service and service to the local community. This free event salutes not only currently serving, former, and retired members of the military, but also police officers, firefighters, and others who work around the clock to keep us safe.

Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadets from Sahuarita, Walden Grove, and Rio Rico High Schools will perform a touching ceremony recognizing all who are still missing in action from previous wars. They then post the flags from the 50 United States in order of their admittance to the country. Arizona was number 48.
