The Let’s Travel Club’s December meeting program will be presented by Rabbi Norm Roman, a Quail Creek resident who has visited Israel about 50 times since 1965. He has led more than 35 groups of teens, family, and adults-only touring the country.
The presentation will be a whirlwind introduction to Israel’s most important historical, religious, and natural sights.
Israel is an incredibly complicated little country, often in the news and not always for the right reasons. For a country the size of Wales or New Jersey, the landscape is incredibly diverse. The classic image of camels roaming through an endless barren desert does exist, but the rest may surprise you. Israel is an incredibly diverse and complex country, with many layers to peel away. Throw away your misconceptions, because you will be surprised.
Rabbi Norm and his wife Lynne moved to Quail Creek in 2019, and he is the part-time Rabbi of Green Valley’s Beth Shalom Temple Center. Norm served as Senior Rabbi of Temple Kol Ami in West Bloomfield, Mich., for 30 years, as well as teaching on the religious studies faculty of the University of Detroit Mercy (Jesuit).
His presentation will be approximately 30 to 45 minutes, including a 10- to 15-minute video, followed by his talk and allowing plenty of time for Q&A.
The Let’s Travel Club meeting is on Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. in the Kino Center’s Mesquite and Ocotillo Rooms. The meeting is open to all Quail Creek residents. Hope to see you there.
