The Javelina Hoedown will be on Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Madera Clubhouse. It is open to all Quail Creek residents and the public.

Tickets have been selling like hotcakes, so don’t put off getting your tickets any longer. The Javelina Hoedown is a The Women Of Quail Creek (TWOQC)-sponsored dinner dance for members and nonmembers alike, with the purpose of raising money for the scholarships that are given out each spring. Each year, the number of scholarship recipients has grown. In 2022 TWOQC awarded 15 scholarships to young women for a total of $29,500 toward their tuition. This year we hope to help even more young women with their education expenses.

Those attending the Hoedown will be treated to a chuckwagon dinner, complete with barbecue pork ribs, pulled beef barbecue, coleslaw, beans, cornbread, and a cookie for dessert. Tickets are $45 cash or check payable to TWOQC. Two bars will be opened to satisfy one’s thirst. Music for a variety of tastes will be provided by Tony G. Some of you may recall the laughter generated by the “Chicken Dance” at the previous Hoedowns. The “Chicken Dance” will be back again! And line dancing with TWOQC dancers will be there to guide us through the steps.

In addition to the food and dancing, there will be two raffles; one for baskets with a variety of prizes for every taste, and the other a cash raffle, which will be split 50/25/25, giving two winners a chance to take home some money raised from the raffle ticket sales. In 2019 the winner took home more than $1,000. Raffle tickets are six for $5 and 30 for $20. Please bring cash or check to purchase raffle tickets. Bring along a pen or address labels to make filling out the tickets much easier.

There will also be a silent auction for people to bid on more valuable prizes. From beautiful arts and craft items donated by many Quail Creek crafters to rounds of golf at many of the golf clubs in Green Valley, Tubac, and Tucson, plus themed dinner parties, a custom tour of Pima Air and Space Museum, and much more. Again, please bring cash or checks to pay for your winning items that night.

TWOQC is also selling Jim Click raffle tickets. The Grand Prize is a 2022 Ford Maverick Lariat Hybrid, second prize is two roundtrip tickets anywhere in the world, and third prize is $5,000 cash! The drawing is Dec. 15. Tickets are $25 each or five for $100. All proceeds go directly to the TWOQC Scholarship Fund.
