The Election Committee
It’s time to Vote! The Election Committee is pleased to announce a second candidate for the resident-elected position on the Quail Creek POA Board. Donna Smith has joined Jeff Krueger on the ballot for this position. We had our final Meet the Candidates event on Wednesday, October 10 in the Crystal Ballroom of the Madera Clubhouse. Residents had an opportunity to ask questions of the candidates after their presentations.
Voting began on October 1. For those residents who elected to do paper ballots, they were mailed out and for those who elected to vote electronically, an email invitation was sent to the primary email address for your property for you to cast your ballot. If you did not receive your email ballot or paper ballot by October 7, a resident may contact Daryl Laux at [email protected] to request a new invitation to evote, or Debbie Deptula, POA Admin Assistant at [email protected] to set up a time to obtain a duplicate paper ballot. For identification purposes, a Robson card and another form of picture ID will be required for a replacement paper ballot.
Following are the bios for each candidate. This information is also available on the 2018 POA Election Webpage on the Quail Creek Website.
Donna Smith
My name is Donna Smith. In 2010 we started looking in Tucson for a place to retire. We were shown Quail Creek and were immediately impressed with the facilities, people and the willingness to make us feel at home. We built our home here in 2012. Previously we were at Edwards Air Force Base for 20 years where I worked in the Financial Directorate of the Flight Test Center, retiring as Director of Finance with a budget exceeding $500 million. My responsibilities included managing people, test budgets and reimbursements, building and maintenance budgets for eight divisions. Prior to that I managed a full-service restaurant for several years.
As a full-time resident at Quail Creek, I am involved in many community activities. I am the Unit Representative for Unit 9, a member of the QC Performing Arts Guild and play cards with several different groups. I had previously been a member of the Finance Committee for three years.
I am running for election to the POA board to be a voice for the residents, to improve and maintain the facilities to ensure quality of life at Quail Creek. In my role as Director of Finance for the Test Wing, I listened to management requirements and guided them to sound budget decisions. If elected to the POA board I feel I can apply these abilities.
My husband and I are active here at Quail Creek and would like to see the POA board continue to develop and build the many clubs and activities that are offered to the residents.
Jeff Krueger
My name is Jeff Krueger. We built our home in Quail Creek in 2010, after being impressed with the community, lifestyle and the residents we had met. We retired here full time in 2013. Prior to retiring I was a senior executive at Mercury Marine as director of sales, service and marketing, managing an operational budget of more than $2 million and sales of over $100 million.
For many years I was on the board of directors of the Our World Underwater Scholarship Society sponsored by Rolex and a member of the Wisconsin State Legislative Council.
As a full-time Quail Creek resident, I am involved in many community activities. I am on the Quail Creek POA Board, President of the Photography Club of Quail Creek, board member of the QC Air Gun Club, member of the QC Performing Arts Guild and the QC Remote Control Club. I also volunteer my time as a photographer for many community clubs and activities. We continue to explore all that Quail Creek has to offer.
My reasons for being on the POA board and running for election are simple. After attending many POA board meetings, I feel that it is important to be an active member of our community. My years as a corporate executive gave me many skills I can bring to the board, along with my time and energy.
I very much enjoy my involvement in the clubs and activities I belong to and those that Sharon and I do together. I would like to see the POA board help develop and build the many clubs and activities that are offered or could be created and help guide our growth as a community. I want to represent all Quail Creek residents in a positive and responsive manner.
