Hello from the ALC Department

Karen Bartlett, ALC Supervisor

The ALC would like to welcome back all our residents who traveled or headed to cooler climates for the summer. As you are pulling up to your house, you may notice the summer sun was not kind to your paint. Houses and garage doors can fade quickly. This a reminder that you do need a permit application to paint your house or just your garage door. Permit applications are located on the Quail Creek HOA website or at the ALC office.

Line of Sight and Landscaping

It is important to remember the critical role that landscaping plays in ensuring both safety and visibility along our streets. In particular, the growth of bushes, shrubs, and other landscaping elements can sometimes obstruct drivers’ line of sight, posing potential hazards for both pedestrians and drivers.

Why Line of Sight Matters

Line of sight refers to the unobstructed view a driver has when leaving their driveway. In our community, many bushes and shrubs planted to hide utility boxes can sometimes grow too tall or spread too wide. This can create blind spots, limiting a driver’s ability to see oncoming traffic, pedestrians, golf carts, or bikes. Maintaining clear sightlines not only promotes safety but helps avoid accidents and enhances the overall driving experience for everyone.

What Homeowners Can Do

To help maintain safe sightlines, homeowners are encouraged to regularly trim bushes, hedges, and trees near streets. Here are some simple tips:

Keep Bushes and Shrubs Trimmed: For safety, shrubs and bushes should be trimmed back at least five feet from the edge of the street (ALC Guidelines 2.2,B).

Prune Tree Branches: Tree branches should be kept at least 8 to 10 feet above the ground.

We urge all residents to inspect their landscaping regularly and adjust as needed. If you are uncertain about what constitutes an acceptable line of sight or need advice on pruning or trimming, our Landscaping Committee is happy to provide recommendations.

Remember: We all play a part in keeping our neighborhood safe, and maintaining clear sightlines is a simple yet important task to ensure the well-being of everyone in our community.

The ALC is pleased to welcome Victoria Liebrand as our new ALC clerk. Many of you may already know Victoria from her friendly smile and warm greetings at the gatehouse. We are delighted to have her join our office team.
