“Geology around Madera Canyon” set for November 5

Geology around Madera Canyon will be presented by Professional Geologist Dr. Richard Conway on Monday, November 5 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Madera Clubhouse Ballroom. Tickets are $10 per person and available at the Concierge Desk, Meredith’s Hallmark Store or Green Valley/Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce.

The Santa Rita Mountains are one of the largest and most complex of the Sky Island Mountains that decorate southeast Arizona and nearby Sonora. Contained within the rocks and landscapes of the Santa Rita’s is a remarkable history of western North America that goes back nearly two billion years. Madera Canyon is a remarkable passage into that history and reveals some startling facts and mysteries. The presentation will describe important features of the area and tell the story of how it became the unique and remarkable land that it is.
