Bonnie Nowicki, Quail Creek resident
Have you wanted to learn more about our tropical desert here in southern Arizona? Perhaps you even wished you could become a Master Gardener. These opportunities are right here locally. I am one of fourteen graduates of the Pima County Master Gardeners class of 2018. The ten-week class sessions were held at the U of A Cooperative Extension center on Whitehouse Canyon Road in Green Valley, a mere ten minute drive from Quail Creek.
The convenience and accessibility of this first-rate program enticed me to sign up last February. Garden experts and U of A professors traveled weekly to Green Valley to teach the course. In the past, people interested in becoming Master Gardeners had to travel into Tucson for all classes and required volunteer work. How wonderful it is to have this resource right here in Green Valley.
The upcoming 2019 Master Gardener Course here in Green Valley will take place February 5 through April 9 on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. with an hour for lunch. The cost is a very worthwhile $200. For course applications and additional information please call 520-648-0808. Don’t pass up this opportunity to expand your gardening horizons.
