A native of Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Goldfinger moved to Tucson in 1986 following training in Interventional Cardiology and Clinical Cardiovascular Disease at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque. He founded Desert Cardiology of Tucson in 1990 after seeing a need for comprehensive cardiac care for the northwest Tucson community.
Over the past two plus decades of practice in Tucson, Dr. Goldfinger has been integrally involved in the growth of cardiology disease management in northwest Tucson. He was the first cardiologist to perform cardiac catheterization and coronary angioplasty at Northwest Medical Center where he also served as Chief of Staff. He established the first diagnostic stress echo lab and was among the first vascular specialists to use stents for the treatment of Peripheral Vascular Disease. He organized the annual Spring Desert Cardiovascular Update for 13 years to keep community physicians updated on the newest concepts in cardiology.
As a senior cardiologist in the community, Dr. Goldfinger continues to balance his clinical practice with research, writing and teaching. He is widely published and speaks both nationally and internationally on cardiology subjects.
