Bev Marshall hosted her recent Book Club meeting and invited Charlie Pattinian, the author of Ending My Prayers with PHEW! to discuss how he and his wife Carolann took a four-month, perilous trip along the off-roads of South America into the unknown.
The group asked an array of questions about Charlie’s motivation to write, his insights into dealing with the unknown, and how he recorded events.
The members described the book as humorous and adventurous, and his satirical take on world travel and the rich histories of the countries he’s visited sparked lively conversation—and more than a few laughs.
One particularly popular sentiment: “Your wife Carolann must have a lot of patience!” Charlie graciously agreed, calling her a saint and giving her due credit for accompanying him on his whirlwind adventures. It was interesting to hear firsthand about the journey behind the pages and the man in the book.
