In December the Democratic Club of Quail Creek (DCQC) continued to give to charities, as it had in November. It also held social gatherings for the holiday season.

The Women In Blue (WIB) held their annual Holiday Luncheon at a DCQC member’s home on Dec. 11. More than 40 women gathered to socialize and eat a variety of Asian dishes from Sushi Lin. They also brought bags of necessities (socks, sweatshirts, etc.) for Sister José Women’s Center in Tucson. Contributing to this important nonprofit homeless shelter has become a yearly tradition for the WIB. Jean Fedigan, the founder, spoke before the WIB, and then she returned to the Women’s Center with an overflowing car of needed items, money, and food.

At the WIB luncheon, the Janet T. Connell Memorial Award was presented for the second year. It recognizes two women who reflected dedicated support of democracy and democratic ideals throughout the year. Carol Casey of Quail Creek and Henne Queisser of Green Valley were the recipients. Each recipient designated a $50 contribution to a cause of her choice.

On Dec. 6 DCQC held their Holiday Party in a private home. Appetizers were catered. Besides relaxing and enjoying each other’s company, the club held its annual Bake Sale of goodies as a fundraiser for the club.

DCQC brought to life the “spirit of the season” by bringing people together and giving to those less fortunate. 2026 should be another good year for the club and its members.
