Arizona Democratic Party State Meeting
Five Precinct Committee (PC) women from Quail Creek attended the Arizona Democratic Party State Meeting on Jan. 18 on the campus of Phoenix College. The event was held in Bulpitt Auditorium, which seats 675. The auditorium was filled with enthusiastic PCs (men and women) from throughout the state, as well as some observers.
A number of issues were discussed, and PCs were quite vocal about their experiences over the last two years, as well as their hopes and expectations for 2025 and 2026.
Kris Mays, Arizona Attorney General, gave a rousing speech highlighting the Democratic “wins” in Arizona in the 2024 election. Her comments were met with lots of cheers and applause. Adrian Fontes, Arizona Secretary of State, also spoke, focusing on the need for common goals going forward. Governor Katie Hobbs attended but did not address the assembly.
The highlight of the day, and its main focus, was the election of board members, totaling 12 positions, including president, treasurer, educational coordinator, secretary, and seven vice chair positions. The results suggested a determined shift in the focus of the party in Arizona, which reflected the comments from the PCs during discussions before the elections.
Women In Blue Luncheon
The first Women In Blue luncheon of 2025 was held on Jan. 23 at Wisdom’s Café in Tumacácori. More than 35 participants, including women from Quail Creek and the Greater Green Valley/Sahuarita area, gathered to take advantage of the opportunity to socialize with like-minded women in a casual setting. There were lots of fun stories about experiences through the holidays, which added to the lightheartedness of the day.
We look forward to the next luncheon scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 27. Details will be provided as they become available.
