Col. Richard Bushong, USAF (retired), will speak to the Aero Club of Arizona on Friday, Sept. 10, at the Continental Shopping Center Conference Room. Bushong is a 26-mission veteran of World War II who remained in the Air Force and flew the F-4 in Vietnam. He will describe his service career and the 43 types of aircraft he flew.
Bushong enlisted soon after Pearl Harbor and was taught to fly the B-17 Flying Fortress. He was soon sent to Framlingham, England, where he flew combat bombing missions against the Nazi homeland. After the war, he remained in the Air Force in a variety of assignments. He retired after 32 years of service with the rank of colonel.
The Aero Club gathers at 9:30 a.m. for coffee and refreshments and Bushong’s program will begin at 10 a.m. The public is invited. Contact Col. Don Cassiday at 520-396-3023 for more information. This is a rare opportunity to hear a veteran of “The Greatest Generation,” who has served his country well.
