Peggy McGee
The temperatures are in the triple digits, but the Lady Putters are already thinking about Christmas, Christmas in July that is. They will once again be donning holiday colors on July 24 while they hold a grocery collection for the Green Valley Food Bank.
Because school won’t yet be in session at the end of July, the food bank would especially like to receive foods popular with school aged children: juice packs, small boxes of dried fruit, cereals, peanut butter and jelly. Seniors who shop at the food bank like canned meats, fish, vegetables and beans as well as rice, pasta and pasta sauces. Or members might consider donating some of those items that oftentimes cost more than food, e.g., cleaning, paper and hygiene supplies.
Cash, check, credit card and gift card donations are always appreciated. Envelopes will be provided for these donations, and donors will receive a written acknowledgement.
If Putters would like to help but won’t be in town on July 24, they may drop donations at Peggy McGee’s house, 1908 E. Longspur Place, and she will get them to the food bank.
