Ginny Hutcheson has been chosen as the QCFAPC Artist of the Month for June and July for her work in scratchboard art. What exactly is scratchboard art? Scratchboard refers to a fine-art medium using exacto knives and tools for engraving into a thin layer of white China clay that is coated with black India ink. The final drawing can be left black and white or colored using different techniques. Since first beginning using this medium 3 years ago, Ginny has become very accomplished. Examples of her work can be seen in the window of the art studio in the Creative Arts and Tech Center. Ginny also teaches classes; look in the “What’s Happening” section and e-mail her for future class offerings.
