In-House 10-Ball Tournament

The Quail Creek Billiards Club (QCBC) held its 10-Ball Tournament on Nov. 1 in the Billiards Room of the Madera clubhouse. The ever-popular in-house tournaments attract a full roster of competitors each month. Once again, 12 members participated in this one.

Dennis Desmond, the facilitator for the event, applauded all the players.

The championship match between Manny Quijada and Jim Hall was a compelling contest, captivating an engaged audience of six or seven spectators. Quijada emerged as the victor, with Hall as the runner-up.

Both finalists displayed an exceptional level of play. Quijada had been undefeated going into the final match. He secured his victory by skillfully executing the final six balls. Enthusiastic applause from all the attendees acknowledged the superb efforts of Quijada and Hall.

Travel Team Plays GVR

QCBC’s Travel Team of eight members ventured to Green Valley to play 8-ball with GVR (Green Valley Recreation) on Nov. 8.

The QCBC team roster consisted of Gerry Bates, Bryce Dohrman, Lenny Friedman, Dwight Hildebrand, Pat Nigro, Jay Quakenbush, Manny Quijada, and Dick Randles. Dennis Desmond was the QCBC manager.

The tournament was closely contested through the initial matches. However, GVR gained momentum in the final quarter, securing their win.

Although there was anticipation for the tournament, QCBC could never pull ahead of GVR, who won 29 games to QCBC’s 19 games. Despite the loss, QCBC demonstrated commendable effort and sportsmanship. It is always a pleasure for QCBC to compete with GVR and their seasoned players.

The next scheduled 8-ball match-up is set for Dec. 13 with Voyager.
