Baseball on the Pickleball Courts?

Roxanne Housley, QCPC Social Chair

We didn’t actually play baseball on the pickleball courts, but there were 72 members dressed in their favorite team’s baseball jerseys and caps enjoying a Mixed Round Robin Social followed by a hotdog lunch. Lucky Eldon Housley won the 50/50 drawing and took home $123, with $123 going to the club. Following lunch, there was a pickleball relay race followed by prizes given out to 11 lucky players.

The big news and great change was that Bill Foraker didn’t have to bring all of his sound equipment. He just showed up with the perfect playlist and plugged it into our new sound system. There are even three microphones.

Vice President Dave Mungo and Membership Chair Greg Dinnocenti came by to welcome everyone and encouraged us to invite friends and neighbors to become Quail Creek Pickleball Club members.

Our next Social will be July 3 with an Independence Day theme. The Social Committee stays busy planning events, and even when the weather doesn’t cooperate and we have to cancel, there is still lots of planning and preparation. We learned from President Doug Christy that when the new courts are completed, we will be playing on them and using the new and larger ramada for meals. In addition, when we schedule a Social on a particular date and set aside 16 courts, we can also book courts for one week later in case the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Your Social Committee members, including me, are Cindy Mueller, Wendy Turley, Chris Reitz, Madelyn Witt, Mary Taylor, Tina Davis, Bobbi Jo Blythe, Georgine Thomas, Yon Ehrmentrout, Barb Ware, Tricia Kordalski, and newest member Bill Foraker. We are grateful for the support of our spouses who help with table set-up, take-down, and other tasks.
