Don Beaver, Fitness Director
Despite the fact that this “season,” with its full complement of residents, has passed us, it is never a bad time to remind ourselves of the rules that serve us well. Whether you are a longtime resident, a renter, a new resident, or a guest, your enjoyment of the Anza facilities (open daily 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.) can be enhanced if you are familiar with “the rules of the road.”
Arrival
• Anza parking is limited, especially handicapped spaces, which are for the use of properly marked full-size vehicles. Please park golf carts in cart spaces in the Anza lot or on the rise adjacent to the Grill overlooking the Anza lot.
• Please exercise care in the parking lot by honoring our One Way traffic signage.
• Make sure that you have your key fob/ID for efficient front desk registration.
• All guests (18 years and up) must obtain a guest card from Member Services. These complimentary guest cards require signed insurance waivers by both the guest and the host, and it grants the guest full access to fitness and aquatics.
• Familiarize yourself and your guests with our dress code: gym attire (no jeans, no midriff showing, no sandals, etc.), and please wear a cover-up and footwear when accessing/exiting the pools through the Anza.
Aquatics
• Please take a shower prior to entering any of our three aquatic facilities.
• Please prevent slippery floors by toweling off before re-entering the Anza and, if possible, exit the aquatics area by walking around the Anza to reduce the possibility of slippery floors.
• Two daily (except Sundays) complimentary 45-minute Water Aerobics classes are held in the recreation pool beginning at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
• Lap lane 1 is shallower to allow for those who are prescribed aquatic walking for joint replacements, injuries, etc. Please refrain from reserving it for swimming.
• Be a “good fellow resident” by canceling lap lane reservations with as much lead time as possible—enabling rebooking.
• Food, alcoholic beverages, and glass are not permitted on the deck.
• Small floatation devices are permitted in the recreation pool.
• Children’s (under 18 years of age) hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. daily. Children must be toilet-trained and accompanied by an adult at all times.
• Our maintenance staff is committed to providing the cleanest facilities possible. Please understand that: 1) after windy conditions, the cleaning process may be longer than usual, and 2) we close the pools on the second Wednesday of the month from 5 to 11 a.m. for deep-cleaning.
Fitness
• Always use sanitary wipes when cleaning all surfaces where your hands touch. Sanitary wipe stations are conveniently located throughout the Anza.
• Time is limited to 30 minutes for cardiovascular equipment if fellow residents are waiting. Also, please allow fellow residents to work in when performing sets on the weight machines.
• Please refrain from abusing equipment by gently lowering weights and weight plates. Do not place dumbbells on benches, and avoid upholstery damage.
• Report any equipment issues to staff so that repair can be addressed ASAP.
• Cell phone use is only permitted in the lobby.
Let’s all enjoy the multitude of services and facilities that the Anza and Quail Creek have to offer as we also enjoy the journey—together!
