That’s just what Terry Nicholson did. For someone who had yet to have an eagle at Quail Creek, she decided to set the bar super-high. While playing in the QCLGA two-day Eclectic Tournament on Feb. 15, her first eagle was on the number 6 Coyote par 5 hole. With a driver and 5 wood, she put her ball within 50 yards of the pin, then chipped it in with her trusty lob wedge. Congratulations all around from her playing partners Karen Stensrud, Elly Cashel, and Sonia Heeren.
On the second day of the Eclectic Tournament, Feb. 22, Terry hit a great drive again on number 6 Coyote and followed it up with a nice 3 wood, landing her about 40 yards from the hole. At that moment she thought, “Hmm, what do I have to lose? Wouldn’t that be something, to do it again with my lob wedge?” Bam, it went right into the hole! Elly Cashel congratulated her again, along with Kate Schwartz and Robin Brannan.
The excitement must not have set in completely, because she was destined to get her third eagle just two days later. On Feb. 24, while playing with her husband Ray Nicholson and Kelly and Julie Monroe on the number 4 Road Runner par 4, Terry hit a sweet drive right onto the green, not too far from the hole, and with her putter, the ball went right smack into the hole! Wowzer! Congrats three times over, Terry!
